Someone at the Door
Someone knocked on the door, the noise woke me up. Who must be it, so late at night, I walked up towards the door. The banging of the door continued and louder than before. That got me a little scared. To protect me, I kept a broom in my left hand so that I could beat up any stranger as soon as I open the door.
With slow step and with courage I opened the door finding a man in his 80s drenched in the water looking helpless with pleading eyes he looked at me, the fright in his eyes made me wonder what could have happened to him before coming over here. I assumed he must have fallen in some bucket full of water or slipped into a pool of dirty water as he smelled awful. God knows what must have happened. With all my courage, I asked him "who are you, what do you want, and for sake of god, why are you smelling so awful"
He tried talking and god knows how long he talking to utter a single word. Finally, he spoke, " I'm sorry, to disturb you so late at night, but I wanted someone to help me and your house was the only option for me as it was the nearest to the station can you please let me in and let me dry off".
